Anglers who enjoy fishing opportunities
across the province need to take precautions to help prevent the spread
of whirling disease. This microscopic parasite can affect rainbow, cutthroat
trout and mountain whitefish in Alberta. We can take steps to ensure we’re not
spreading the parasite to other water bodies. For starters, not wearing felt-soled boots, removing all mud from angler gear and ensuring our equipment is clean
and dry before moving on to the next stream or river. Together, we can stop the
spread of whirling disease.
