  1. The problem with controlling IBD with diet is that no one starts at the same microbiome condition and that its evolution is not simply controlled by adding or removing a few stuff. I still believe it can be highly efficient after experiments (I've been controlling Crohn for years with diet). Starting suddenly on a high fiber diet might prove challenging (terrible symptoms might arrise) and most sufferers will dread the idea, although I think it is eventually the goal. Soluble fiber must be introduced slowly and there is some good strategy to get rid of pathogenic bacterias like SCD diets that will essentially starve gut bacterias for awhile. I find that fermented food like 24h yogurt, kimchi or natto can also be beneficial. Natto also contains nattokinase and can potentially break off biofilms. For butyrate production, supplementing inulin or resistant starch is also a good trick. For UC in particular, fecal transplants seem highly efficient.

  2. I used to have ulcerative colitis. Going vegan healed it for me. Dairy was the major trigger, but all animal products hurt in some way. I also remember distinctly that when a flare was coming on, I would get that sulphury smelling gas, so the SAA's you are talking about make a lot of sense and that's probably why. I found soy to also be a problem for me.

  3. I had this disease. Twice. The second time, it felt like Mike Tyson punched me in the gut. Even if this not a cancer, it's a first warning.

    The Funniest part : my gastro enterologist told in 1998 that it's a common disease in developped countries….. You don't say!

  4. For me any legumes are producing 200 times more putrefying hydrogen sulfuric gases than any meat in my intestines 🙁 Over a year on plant based diet and still cannot eat any legumes. What is strange – huge amounts of gases form less than in an hour after eating legumes. Tried to soak them, overcook them, microwave them, steam them – all to no avail. Any ideas?

  5. The favorite food of the the worlds oldest person as of a few days ago is bacon! She's 116. I do admit that this would kill me PDQ but then I have genes that are doing me in anyway. Just got two stints but the problem wasn't diet it was genes. My triglycerides are going to be high no matter what I do or do not eat so my option is pills or die PDQ. You may or may not need to remove milk & dairy products from your diet. Depends on your genes. Most humans world wide are lactose intolerant but most Americans aren't. Heavy selection in some populations for being able to add milk to your diet. It's going to take a while but in time I'm confident that before people try to shove a diet on you they will want to look at your genetic code.

  7. I am confused. Many people report healing colitis with cabbage juice. It's full of sulphur. Maybe it's just animal sulphur? What up doc?

  10. I've been vegan for 8 months but I've had food poisoning from accidentally eating a bit of cheese in a "vegan falafel wrap". (2 days after eating got stomach cramps, vomiting and white?? diarrhea) so nauseous I don't want to eat anything yet I feel so hungry. D:

  11. It would be a shame for you not to get rid of body fat when other normal people are capable to lose weight easily with Fenoboci Diet Plan.

  12. Interesting. My best friend's sister has UC, & she's convinced that meat was her saving grace when she went through a terrible bout. The diet her doctors recommended was to virtually eliminate all produce & grains, but amped up meat consumption! I'm not a doctor, but that sounds backwards…

    2. ADD ON BIDETS (don’t need space).Are divided to:
    a. Those producing oblique water jet : fixed at the middle of back toilet rim or at the bowl lid
    They can be mechanically or electronically controlled. The flash tube is either fixed or moving in and out, so the jet is less or more oblique. The electronic types can warm the water stream passing through them and supply warm air for drying up.

    b. Those producing vertical water jet : cold or hot, depending on their connection with cold or warm water supply. The apparatus is attached at the side rim, or the cover lid at its side. More effective clean up. Nozzle tube never got spoiled by feces, easily disinfected


    STANDALONE BIDET TYPES: Need space. Awkward user’s body positioning. Maybe hand involvement, basin’s after clean wash up necessary, a lot of t.p use for drying up. Could be used for other purposes.

    a. a. Oblique jet bidets.
    a1.Mechanically controlled, with fixed nozzle at back rim: cheap. The more oblique jet reduces their effectiveness, especially in hemorrhoids. Water splash around, danger of feces transference to women genitalia, and cloth wetting. Wide watered body area, so cold sensation feeling rather strong, much toilet paper for drying up.

    A2. Electronically controlled, with in and out moving tube nozzle: Luxurious, expensive, could warm the water stream passing through them and supply warm air for drying up, less oblique jet, less chance of above named dangers, complex in use, vulnerable. Warm water may harbor dangerous microbes (see Wikipedia), air drying up not very quick or effective. Electric current dangers, or use of batteries, with their disadvantages. Bowl might not be able to get cleaned up by water.

    b. Vertical jet bidets
    More effective clean up. Nozzle tube under side rim at no use position, never could get spoiled by feces, might be cheap or expensive, easily disinfected, restricted watered body area, so zero cold water sensation and less t.p. for drying up , not around splash water, no cloth wetting, no danger for women genitalia infection, especially after child birth, possibility to get applied to raised toilets and in cases of a person not being able to leave the wheel chair, appropriate for blind people, as they need to be sure about the cleaning result.
    3. Hand hold washlets: water around splashing, cloth wetting, versatility needed, not appropriate for mobility problems, awkwardness.

    People sufferring from hemorrhoids or with motility problems (and all of us) need a BIDET 100% effective and for this it has to produce VERTICAL WATER JET, QUICK ACTING, COMFORTABLE, SIMPLE, EASILY USED, non electric , easily straddle like installed without tools, easily sterilized, making hot water useless, no hands involved for cleaning, not needing AWKWARD POSITIONING, never CLOTH WETTING, nozzle never being spoiled, not needing TO CLEAN THE BASIN AFTER, , never leaking and cheap. IS THERE SUCH A BIDET? YES.

  15. Nutritional deficiencies can trigger inflammation. So it's very important to eat
    a lot of vegetables and fruits, which are high in vitamins and minerals.

    It's also important to eat meat. Vegetarians and vegans tend to be deficient in vitamin D, vitamin B12, and omega-3 fatty acids. Vitamin D levels have been found to be inversely related to mucosal inflammation and disease activity in patients with Ulcerative Colitis.     I can understand being a vegetarian because you don't want to eat animals, but it is better for the health to eat meat if you have Ulcerative Colitis. I know. I used to be a vegetarian. Since my last serious colon flareup, I have added meat back into my diet with positive results.

    For those who don't know, there is a Paleo diet, called the Paleo AIP, that is for those who have an autoimmune disease. The Paleo diet removes most but not all pro-inflammatory foods. The Paleo AIP diet removes all pro-inflammatory foods. Some of them–such as eggs, dairy, nightshades, nuts, and seeds–can be reintroduced when symptoms subside.

  16. What a tragic contradiction and terrible mistake !!! People and especially women are advised to wipe front to back. That means it is realized the danger on t. paper use of UTI, and still everybody keep telling them to use t. paper! How somebody could be sure that the millions of microbes in the remaining feces film, would not later travel to their genitalia?

    As the water stream comes from inside the toilet bowl, he is afraid that the water is contaminated by microbes. This fear is justified, no matter if the bidet is covered or not. The real danger is lying on the spout, hidden or not, where the water springs up. The other parts are indifferent.
    So, when others as well are going to use the bidet, the only real defense is to leave 2-3 drops of a good disinfectant on the want spout. (That is not enough for bidets with warm water, for which things get more perplex).

    This is not true
    She does not drink coffee use alcohol or drugs of any sort ever she eats only clean ! A pure vegan this is a lie!

  19. I was a vegan when I acquired colitis. I started eating animal meat again afterwards and it wasn't until then that I started feeling twice as healthy and twice as good. I didn't just cut out the fiber, but animal protein has really giving me a lot of energy back. It's a very dense source of calories as well, which is good for people like me. So I'm not sure if it's the animal protein or if it's just the extra calories but I've been eating this way for 6 or 7 months now and felt improvements from the very first day that I reintroduced chicken into my diet then I moved on to red meat and now I eat both.

  20. So are they testing raw or franken pasteurized milk. Cause alot of people online that have cured uc with diet, raw milk & kefir are a primary part of their diet.

Do not use any type of bidet with oblique jet, but choose that don't do any harm to your health by pushing filthy water to uro-genitals, is the more effective, the more comfortable, the easier to use and install, the cheaper (22$). That means: The KO BIDET with VERTICAL WATER JET. It can combine with toilet risers

  22. Very interesting but you did selectively omit the portion off the study also restricted sulphuric containing VEGETABLES, including cauliflower broccoli Brussels sprouts.

  23. In my opinion it seems that doctors don’t care that much about IBD considering that it is not as significant as other diseases such as heart disease, cancer, etc. we are extremely behind on the science of ibd and it is insane

Not sure why the Nutritionfacts team is silent on this but for those questioning the role of high-sulphur vegetables vs animal proteins in UC, my reading of the following study is that the consumption of brassica vegetables (broccoli, etc), counter-intuitively, appears to lower the kind of bacteria (SRB) that generate sulphur in the intestinal tract due to the fibre content.
